What does God say in the Bible? Start reading it and then make your own decision whether or not to follow God’s advice. Ask yourself once you start: Do you see any changes in your life? Does it change how you understand things? Do you feel differently inside? Do you see your life’s purpose begin to change or improve? Try spending, perhaps ten to twenty minutes in the morning with coffee in hand pondering these questions.

Might I suggest some rules to guide your consideration of this text? If your worries and stress levels remain the same, then return to your normal routine. If you see some meaningful-positive difference in your understanding or sense of purpose, then read on.

Here are the three rules you might want to consider;

  1. Do you have something more important to do in the morning than talking with God?
  2. First thing in the morning is the best time to test this when your well rested and most alert, speaking to God about the upcoming day’s events about to happen.

After a few weeks of reading, you may want to begin electronically highlighting a few words from each of the 7 Mega themes (brief summaries) sections of the Introduction part on each Books of the Bible, to open your eyes to the context and appreciate the original audience who first received this message.
